Club Atlético Osasuna, Santi Castillejo End Eight-Year Partnership

Osasuna thanks coach for success with Promesas team

Club Atlético Osasuna and Santi Castillejo will part ways after eight seasons. Castillejo's tenure with Osasuna Promesas included 280 official matches. Osasuna thanks the Valtierra native for his commitment and work, and also recognizes the contributions of his assistant, Iván Santafé.

Castillejo took charge of Osasuna Promesas in 2018, after the team was relegated to Spain's fourth tier, Tercera División. In his first season, he led the team to promotion to Segunda B after defeating Cádiz CF Mirandilla in the playoffs. In 2019-20, the team finished seventh in its return to the third tier, in a season affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the RFEF restructuring, Osasuna Promesas earned a place in Segunda RFEF. However, they played there for only one season, as the team won the league and earned promotion to Primera RFEF. Under Castillejo, the team avoided relegation for three seasons before dropping back down this year.

In addition to his results on the field, Castillejo played a key role in developing players for the club, including Jon Moncayola, Aimar, Jorge Herrando, Iker Muñoz, Iker Benito, Asier Osambela and Iñigo Arguibide, who reached the first team. He also oversaw the development of former players Pablo Ibáñez, Javi Martínez, Iván Barbero and Diego Moreno.

Osasuna also highlighted the respect Castillejo showed toward players, staff, fans and the board during his tenure, and wished him well in his future endeavors.
